Katie Melua - About Katie And Her Music

Katie was born on the 16th September 1984 in Tbilisi, Geordian SSR and moved to Northern Irland at the age of 8 and later moved to South East London both due to her fathers Profession as a heart surgeon. It was during Katie's studies at the Brit School For Performing Arts that she was discovered by Mike Batt on hearing Katie's song Faraway Voice a tribute to Eva Cassidy. Katie signed to Mike Batt's record lable Dramatico. Katie made a debut single in 2003 with The Closest Thing To Crazy and entered the charts at number 10. Speaking for my self that was the song that really attracted me to Katie's music and left me wanting to hear more by this fantastic singer-musician. Since Katie's first album Call Off The Search which topped the UK Album Charts and sold 1.8 million copies in the first five months. She later went on to release Piece By Piece in September 2005 which has gone platinum four times. And her third album Pictures in October 2007. AS a fan of Katie Melua I feel that each album has something different to offer and think all three albums are great. But I feel the latest album Pictures brought a new spark to her music and showed off the talent of this great artist and to me was a real step up for Katie. I have every faith that Katie Melua will continue to grow and look forward to any future albums and singles.
